Turner Moves to Impound Ballots, Again

Campaign sites low turnout as reason to lock up votes.

The campaign of Republican Bob Turner, Forest Hills Congressman, has moved to lock up ballots statewide following the primary election on Tuesday.

"There are reports statewide of  extremely low voter turnout, which was feared but not entirely unexpected due to the unusual nature of this primary date," said Turner spokeswoman Jessica Proud. "The Turner campaign is committed to ensuring the integrity of every vote and impounding the ballots is the best way to achieve that for the good of all the campaigns."

Turner's campaign implied that could conceivably contribute to voter fraud.

This isn't the first time that the Congressman has moved quickly to impound votes in an election. During his special election win against David Weprin last year, Turner sued to impound provisional and absentee ballots the day before the election.

Turner is currently in a three way race with conservative attorney Wendy Long and Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos to run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the fall.
