Stop & Shop Donates 1,000 Pounds Of Food To QJCC For Passover

The Stop & Shop on the border of Forest Hills feels a lot more like a member of the community this week, especially to Jewish families in need.

The grocery store chain pledged a donation of 1,000 pounds of food to the Queens Jewish Community Council food pantry on Thursday, helping the organization stock its shelves at the most crucial time of the year.

Requests for kosher food at food pantries has been on the rise in recent years, and as a result, organizations like the QJCC have trouble keeping their cupboards stocked.

Cynthia Zalisky, head of the council, said she was relieved that her organization could now promise food to hundreds of families during the holiday season.
