'Harlem Shake' Flash Mob Gets FHHS Student Arrested

Viral dance craze breaks down into chaos at Forest Hills High School.

A student who tried to organize a flash mob to capitalize on the "Harlem Shake" dance craze ended up getting arrested at Forest Hills High School, according to published reports.

The student reportedly tried to call off the mob, but was unsuccessful, and ended up being taken to the 112 Precinct and given a desk appearance ticket for disorderly conduct.

"Harlem Shake" videos have gone viral, with everyone from firefighting teams to the cast and crew of The Daily Show getting in on the craze. Other New York City high schools, both public and private, have filmed versions.

The videos typically start with a calm scene of typical every day life, then explode into a costumed, screaming freakout when the musical beat drops. 

Video of the Forest Hills incident, published on YouTube, shows chaos in the hallways of the school after things got out of hand. Students shout back and forth, packed into the high school's front foyer like sardines.

According to the New York Post, the student in question, Arnis Mehmetaj, was initially suspended, but after pleas from students and his family, has been given a reprieve.
