Forest Park Carousel Will Open This Weekend

Historic park attraction to run for first time in four years.

The New York City Parks Department announced on Wednesday morning

The first date of operation will be this coming Saturday, May 26.

The historic carousel, which first opened in Massachusetts in the early 20th Century, has been rehabbed and will be run by concessionaire NY Carousel Entertainment.

The company plans to keep the carousel running throughout the summer on weekends through June, and throughout the week starting in July and going until Labor Day. 

The hours of operation, weather permitting, will be 11 a.m. to sunset.

The carousel, one of only two left in existence carved by noted master Daniel Carl Muller, opened in in 1973.
